I am centrally concerned with the accountability of organisations, with a particular focus on companies. In particular I am concerned to ensure that the interests of all the stakeholders of an organisation, together with the environment, are properly taken into account and expressed in their governance. In practice this often includes facilitating workshops within organisations and with stakeholders and the formal review, management, measurement and reporting of organisational impacts. |
I have worked in the financial sector and as a consultant for PriceWaterhouseCoopers. I was also Head of Accountability at the New Economics Foundation. I have been widely involved in the development of sustainability standards and worked closely with Amnesty International (UK), Friends of the Earth and other NGOs.
I am particularly interested in the transparency of organisations. This builds on my extensive experience in sustainability reporting but extends also to the relationship between personal transparency of those within organisations to that of the organisation itself. I am the author of ‘Corporate Truth: the limits to transparency’ and Visiting Professor of Accountability and CSR at Middlesex University Business School.
